Boy Volt occurs as popular music group formed by Jay Farrar in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1994, after a breakup of the band Uncle Tupelo. Boy Volt is typically considered a nighest continuance of Uncle Tupelo's healthy & musical bequest.

Trace was hailed by Rolling Stone magazine as one of a top albums of 1995.

Style

Their music ranges from either quietly folk/country ballads reminiscent of Bob Dylan's John Wesley Harding, to barhouse rockers in the spirit of Neil Young with Crazy Horse. It is typically in comparison early Wilco, The Jayhawks, and Automatic for the People era R.E.M.. Typically considered the staple band of the alternative country movement, their music is perhaps better described when genre-spanning traditional American music.

Hiatus

Boy Volt was dropped from either either their record label locate Warner Bros, & beginning inside 2001, Jay Farrar freed many solo efforts that postponed farther releases from Boy Volt. Farrar stated that Boy Volt got non disbanded for good, calling the period out of Boy Volt a irregular hiatus. He reformed the b& inside 2005 and freed a fresh album on the Transmit Sounds label.
